About West Bendigo
West Bendigo is a suburb on the western edge of the regional city of Bendigo in central Victoria, about 4.8 km west of the city centre, lying along the Calder Highway beyond the former gold-mining suburbs of Long Gully and Ironbark. Its eastern part includes the Victoria Hill Diggings heritage area, where gold was found in 1854 and which helped make Bendigo one of the deepest and richest goldfields in the world. The suburb also contains a section of the Bendigo Regional Park and the Bendigo Stadium sports complex.
