Shelbourne

About Shelbourne

Shelbourne is a rural locality south-west of Bendigo in central Victoria, about 17 kilometres north of Maldon on the road to Dunolly. It is named after the Marquess of Lansdowne, who also held the title Earl of Shelburne. Once heavily forested, the district was cleared for cereal growing and grazing, and was served by a railway line from Maldon from 1891 until the late 1960s, when the line closed and grain silos were left marking the former station yard.
