About Gower
Gower is a small rural locality in the Mount Alexander Shire of central Victoria, within the historic Mount Alexander goldfields. Originally known as Muckleford North, it grew after alluvial gold was found on Muckleford Creek in November 1852, when thousands of diggers worked the creeks and gullies of the district. The area is now quiet farmland, bushland and hobby farms.
