About Wareek
Wareek is a rural locality straddling the Pyrenees and Central Goldfields shires in central Victoria, around 200 kilometres north-west of Melbourne. The area is home to the heritage-listed Norwood Homestead, a striking Gothic Revival stone house designed by architect Leonard Terry and built in 1863, considered one of the finest domestic Gothic Revival buildings in Victoria. Wareek sits among open farmland and remnant bushland on the Pyrenees foothills, near the Avoca-based Pyrenees wine district, with Maryborough about 20 kilometres to the north.
