About Sebastopol (Vic.)
Sebastopol is a southern suburb of Ballarat in Victoria, Australia, on the city's rural-urban fringe. It is named after Sevastopol in Crimea, the site of an important battle during the Crimean War. Formerly a separate town, Sebastopol had its own municipality from 1864 until 1994, when the Borough of Sebastopol was merged into the City of Ballarat, and today the suburb is home to numerous light-industrial businesses.
