About Redan

Redan is an inner suburb of Ballarat, Victoria, immediately south of the city centre. It grew up in the 1850s as one of Ballarat's first deep-lead gold mining areas, developing with working-class origins as a home to many miners. The suburb is named after the Battle of Redan in the Crimean War. The Yarrowee River forms its eastern boundary, and it is now a mainly residential area centred on the shops of Pleasant Street.
