About Moolort
Moolort is a rural locality spanning the Shires of Central Goldfields and Mount Alexander in central Victoria, established in 1855 during the gold rush. Once a major deep lead mining area that rivalled neighbouring towns in population, it was among the first mines in the Maldon division to use electrical power. Today the basaltic plains support sheep and cropping, with some grape and conifer growing.
