About Strathlea

Strathlea is a rural locality in the Bendigo region of Victoria, straddling the Shire of Central Goldfields and the Shire of Mount Alexander approximately midway between Bendigo and Maryborough. The name Strathlea is of Scottish Gaelic origin meaning broad meadow, and the landscape is characterised by open box-ironbark woodland, grazing land, and remnants of goldfields-era mining country typical of the Victorian goldfields district. Part of the Electoral district of Bendigo West at state level and Division of Bendigo at federal level, the area supports grazing and rural land use.
