About Allenby Gardens
Allenby Gardens is a western suburb of Adelaide in the City of Charles Sturt, South Australia, located 4.7 kilometres northwest of the Adelaide central business district. The site was laid out in 1922 by State Town Planner Charles Reade and was briefly advertised as Gallipoli Gardens before being named Allenby Gardens in honour of British Field Marshal Lord Allenby. The suburb is separated in two by Grange Road, bordered by Port Road to the north, East Avenue to the northeast and the River Torrens and Linear Park Trail to the south. Allenby Gardens Primary School on Barham Street was established in 1926. The suburb features the Allenby Gardens reserve as its main park and the Allenby Gardens Shopping Complex on Grange Road.
