About Beverley (SA)
Beverley is a western suburb of Adelaide in the City of Charles Sturt, South Australia, located 6.1 kilometres northwest of the Adelaide central business district. Laid out in 1849 for Edward Stephens by John Morphett on section 395 of the Hundred of Yatala, the suburb incorporates the formerly separate suburb of York. Port Road and Grange Road are the main arterials. The suburb has a multicultural population with significant Italian, Greek, Sikh and Indian communities. Former manufacturing sites in the area included Pope Products Limited, Adelaide Potteries Limited and Crompton and Sons skin and fertiliser works along with multiple independent brickworks. Beverley is in the state electorate of Cheltenham and the federal Division of Hindmarsh.
