About Woocoo
Woocoo is a rural locality in the Fraser Coast Region of Queensland, located approximately 12 kilometres south-east of Brooweena and 48 kilometres west-south-west of Maryborough. The area was part of the former Woocoo Shire which was formed in 1914 and took its name from Mount Woocoo, believed to derive from the Kabi word for echidna. The district was historically known for timber, particularly hoop pine, and dairying.
