About Brooweena

Brooweena is a small rural town in the Fraser Coast Region's Wide Bay-Burnett area, roughly 49 kilometres west of Maryborough. Established with the arrival of the railway in 1889, its name is believed to derive from an Aboriginal word meaning crab. The locality borders Wongi National Park and Wongi State Forest, and is home to the Woocoo Historical Society's Early Settlers Museum.
