About Sharon

Sharon is a rural locality in the Bundaberg Region of Queensland, Australia, located eight kilometres west of Bundaberg. Named after the Sharon plain in Israel, the area has a sugar milling history dating from around 1890. Bounded by the Burnett River and Splitters Creek, it features Sharon Gorge, a rainforest area known for ferns, orchids, and native flora.
