About Branyan

Branyan is a rural locality approximately 7 km south-west of Bundaberg in the Bundaberg Region, Queensland. Situated along the Burnett River on flat to undulating terrain, it was named after a pre-1880 sugar mill near the Sharon Gorge. Historically associated with sugar cane farming and timber-getting, the locality hosted an American air training base during World War II. The heritage-listed Branyan Road State School, opened in 1905, is a prominent local landmark. Branyan lies within the traditional lands of the Taribelang Bunda people.
