About Pioneers Rest
Pioneers Rest is a small rural locality in the Fraser Coast Region, bounded by the Mary River to the east and Myrtle Creek to the north. It sits inland from Maryborough and Hervey Bay, in the hinterland of the Great Sandy Strait. The area is characterised by low-density rural-residential properties and farmland, with a school having operated in the district from the 1870s until 1960.
