About Oakhurst (Qld)
Oakhurst is a mixed-use locality in the Fraser Coast Region of Queensland, located 10.1 kilometres west-northwest of Maryborough and 39.1 kilometres southwest of Hervey Bay. Previously split between the Shire of Woocoo and City of Maryborough, it was regazetted solely within the Fraser Coast Region on 2 July 2010. The Mary River forms the eastern boundary. Maryborough West railway station, opened in 1989, replaced Maryborough and Baddow stations when a new 7 kilometre alignment was built as part of the North Coast line electrification. The station is a junction where the electrified line to Cairns splits from the older non-electrified line to Maryborough. TAFE Queensland Wide Bay campus and Wook-koo Park with its animal sculpture walk are notable features.
