About Kingaroy
Kingaroy is a rural town and locality in the South Burnett Region of Queensland, at the junction of the D'Aguilar and Bunya Highways about 218 kilometres north-west of Brisbane. Known as the Peanut Capital of Australia, it is the centre of the Australian peanut industry, with its giant peanut silos a landmark on the town's skyline. The name is thought to come from an Aboriginal word meaning red ant, and Kingaroy was the home of Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen, a long-serving Premier of Queensland.
