About Kilkivan
Kilkivan is a rural town in the Gympie Region of Queensland, about 50 kilometres west of Gympie on the Wide Bay Highway. The area experienced a gold rush in the 1860s and historically served as a service centre for surrounding beef cattle and farming properties. The town hosts the annual Kilkivan Great Horse Ride and features heritage sites including the ruins of the Mount Clara copper smelter chimney, one of the last of its type in Queensland.
