About Woolooga
Woolooga is a rural town and locality in the Gympie Region of south-east Queensland, about 221 kilometres north of Brisbane. Its name comes from the railway station established there in 1886, and is an Aboriginal word from the Kabi language meaning smoke place. The former railway line from Theebine to Nanango runs through the locality, and the heritage-listed Woolooga Rail Bridge, built in 1884, carries it over Wide Bay Creek.
