About Curra

Curra is a rural residential locality in the Gympie Region of Queensland, located 20.8 kilometres north-northwest of Gympie and 186 kilometres north of Brisbane. Named after the Curra pastoral run, in 1887 a total of 23,500 acres were resumed from the run and offered for selection for small farms. The Mary River forms the western boundary and Curra Creek is part of the northern boundary. A large portion of Curra State Forest is to the east and Mount Corella rises to 336 metres in the south. The Bruce Highway and the North Coast railway line both pass through the locality with Curra railway station and Harvey's Siding. The area includes a working limestone quarry and is zoned for a mix of rural residential with working pastoral farms and small acreages.
