About Cordalba
Cordalba is a rural town and locality in the Bundaberg Region of Queensland, in the former Shire of Isis. Founded in 1896 after the Knockroe sugar mill was erected nearby in 1890, the town grew as the principal village of the North Isis district, and local growers helped establish the Isis Central Co-Operative Sugar Mill. Cordalba played an important role in the 1911 sugar strike, hosting one of the main strike camps during the workers' campaign for an eight-hour day and higher wages.
