About Cannindah
Cannindah is a rural locality in the North Burnett Region of Queensland, located about 16 kilometres east of Monto and 484 kilometres north-northwest of Brisbane. The landscape features rural agricultural land with geological significance: the Cannindah Reef, from the Mississippian era 358 to 323 million years ago, was the largest-known coral reef from that period, formed when the area was a shallow sea and now underlying the locality as carbonate rock. Named from a pastoral run held in 1853 by Hugh Mackay, several schools operated in the area from 1918 to 1958.
