About Boonooroo
Boonooroo is a coastal town on the Great Sandy Strait in the Fraser Coast Region, about 25 kilometres south-east of Maryborough. The name is Aboriginal for brigalow tree, and the strait is Queensland's second-largest protected dugong habitat. A quiet seaside hamlet, the area offers fishing, coastal recreation and camping, with nearby Poona National Park.
