Mount Low is a suburb of Townsville in North Queensland, situated approximately 16 to 19 kilometres west-northwest of the Townsville CBD along the Bruce Highway, between Bushland Beach to the north and Deeragun to the south. The suburb takes its name from the nearby Mount Low, a 54-metre hill in neighbouring Bushland Beach that was presumably the source of the name when the area was officially gazetted as a locality on 27 July 1991, later becoming a suburb on 28 February 2003. The traditional custodians of the land are the Bindal and Wulgurukaba peoples. Geographically, the suburb lies on low-lying coastal plains typical of the region, with an average elevation of about 11 metres, and its main internal access is via Mount Low Parkway, which extends north from the Bruce Highway. Mount Low is primarily a modern, master-planned residential area characterised by detached housing estates, with no schools or major shopping centres within its boundaries; residents rely on neighbouring suburbs for education, retail, and services, while the suburb offers proximity to the northern beaches of Halifax Bay and a network of local parks.
