About Mingela
Mingela is a rural town at the junction of the Great Northern railway line from Townsville to Mount Isa and the former branch to Ravenswood. Originally called Ravenswood Junction, it was renamed using an Aboriginal word meaning 'a string of waterholes'. The locality lies along the Flinders Highway.
