About Reid River
Reid River is a rural locality split between the Charters Towers Region and the City of Townsville, about 56 kilometres north of Townsville CBD. The Reid River flows through to join the Haughton River, and the Flinders Highway and Great Northern Railway both pass through. Named around 1864 after explorer Mark Watt Reid, a World War II airfield was established in the area.
