About Toonpan
Toonpan is a rural locality in the City of Townsville, situated roughly 27 kilometres south of the Townsville central business district. The area sits on the foothills of Mount Elliot and is bounded by the Flinders Highway and the Mount Isa railway line to the west. Historically a railway siding on the Great Northern Railway, Toonpan served as an Australian Army base during World War II.
