About Millchester
Millchester is a small town on the south-eastern fringe of Charters Towers in north Queensland, situated along Millchester Road approximately 5 kilometres from the Charters Towers CBD. The first settlement on the Charters Towers goldfield, Millchester formed in 1872 at Gladstone Creek and was originally declared the site of government before Charters Towers quickly overtook it. The locality is home to the heritage-listed Venus Gold Battery and was the site of the goldfield's first school, first newspaper and first banks.
