About Groper Creek
Groper Creek is a small coastal settlement in the Shire of Burdekin, Queensland, located on a distributary of the Burdekin River about 17 kilometres south-east of Home Hill. The creek-side village is known as a quiet fishing spot, with boat ramps, a jetty and holiday huts attracting visitors from Townsville and the surrounding sugar cane country. The settlement was officially gazetted as a town in 2018, though the name had been in local use since the 1920s.
