About Abergowrie
Abergowrie is a rural town in the Shire of Hinchinbrook, approximately 38 kilometres north-west of Ingham in North Queensland. Named after the Abergowrie property selected by James Atkinson in 1883, the name combines the Celtic word aber meaning confluence with Gowrie Creek, reflecting the town's position near the meeting of the Herbert River and Gowrie Creek.
