About Rockville

Rockville is a residential locality two kilometres north-west of central Toowoomba in the Toowoomba Region, Queensland. Originally developed as a residential area for employees at the Willowburn Asylum, Willowburn Railways Workshops and the Darling Downs Co-operative Bacon Factory, the suburb was named after the Rockville Estate, which consisted of 114 allotments and was itself named after Rockville House. Rockville State School opened in 1922 and celebrated its centenary in 2022. The suburb is home to St Andrews Toowoomba Hospital and is bordered by the Black Gully reserve along a tributary of Gowrie Creek.
