About Rosemount
Rosemount is a rural locality in the Sunshine Coast Region of Queensland, located immediately east of Nambour and 11.2 kilometres west-northwest of Maroochydore. Named after Rosemount, an early cane farm on Petrie Creek, the area was first settled in the 1880s with farm selections almost all for cane-growing. Upper Rosemount Road follows the ridge of the Rosemount Spur, a watershed for Petrie and Paynter Creeks. Rosemount Provisional School opened on 7 April 1886, became Rosemount State School on 1 January 1909 and closed on 16 September 1946. The suburb has a semi-rural character with lush landscapes, large residential blocks and a peaceful hinterland setting at elevations up to 130 metres.
