About Peregian Beach
Peregian Beach is a coastal town on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, about 10 km south of Noosa Heads, split between the Shire of Noosa and the Sunshine Coast Region, with Noosa National Park just inland. The name is thought to come from a local First Nations word meaning 'emu'. It is the youngest township in Noosa Shire: the coastal strip stayed Crown land until a 20-year lease in 1957 led to construction of the David Low Way, which opened in 1960, and the first house was built on Pelican Street that year.
