About Weyba Downs

Weyba Downs is a rural locality on the Sunshine Coast, bounded to the north-east by Lake Weyba, a tidal lake flowing into the Noosa River. Most of the south and west falls within Noosa National Park, which protects koala habitat and offers the Lake Weyba Foreshore Walk for pedestrians and horse riders. The name is believed to mean place of stingrays in the local Aboriginal language, and the area was previously known as Peregian Beach South until renamed in 1991.
