About Coolum Beach
Coolum Beach is a beachside town and coastal suburb in the Sunshine Coast Region of Queensland, located 118 kilometres north of Brisbane. The town's name originated from the indigenous word meaning blunt or headless, referring to Mount Coolum's shape. The district is on the traditional land of the Inabara or Yinneburra clan from the Undanbi tribe, part of the Kabi Kabi people. In 2002 Coolum hosted the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. Mount Coolum dominates the landscape and the beach is patrolled by life savers offering swimming and surfing.
