About Meridan Plains

Meridan Plains is a locality on the north-western edge of Caloundra on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, its western boundary following the Mooloolah River. The name comes from the Meradan Plains cattle run taken up by the Westaway brothers in the 1870s, the first Europeans to live near Caloundra, and renamed after their father's birthplace in Devonshire. Traditionally rural grazing land, the area is now developing as a residential suburb and is home to the Sunshine Coast Turf Club's Corbould Park racecourse.
