About Wujal Wujal
Wujal Wujal is an Aboriginal community on the Bloomfield River in the Cape York region of far north Queensland, on the traditional lands of the Eastern Kuku Yalanji people. Its name comes from the Kuku Yalanji language and is said to mean "many falls", describing the waterfalls on the river. The river mouth was first charted by Europeans during the 1819 voyage of the naval survey vessel HMS Mermaid.
