About Rookwood (Qld)
Rookwood is a sparsely settled rural locality in the Shire of Mareeba in Far North Queensland, about 175 km west of Mareeba. The Burke Developmental Road runs through the locality and the Walsh River flows across it from east to west. The former mining town of Mungana, a copper, silver and lead centre served by rail from 1901, lies in the east of the locality.
