About Noorama

Noorama is a rural locality on the Queensland-New South Wales border in the Shire of Paroo. It takes its name from Noorama pastoral station, established in 1879 by the North British Australian Company. By 1900 the station covered approximately 95,000 hectares with over 40,000 sheep. One of Queensland's earliest artesian bores was drilled at Noorama Station in 1887. The predominant land use is grazing.
