About Widgeegoara

Widgeegoara is a rural locality in the Shire of Paroo, Queensland, roughly 78 km south-east of Cunnamulla. Its name derives from an Aboriginal word meaning 'turn around quickly', and the area was first established as a pastoral run from 1867. Noorama Creek and Widgeegoara Creek, distributaries of the Warrego River, flow through the locality. The first sub-artesian bore in Queensland was constructed here in 1884. The predominant land use is grazing of cattle and sheep.
