About Kuridala
Kuridala is a remote outback locality in the Shire of Cloncurry in north-west Queensland. The locality contains the heritage-listed ruins of a copper mining town established in the early 1900s, originally called Hampden then Friezland before being renamed Kuridala in 1916. The Hampden Smelter, operational from 1911 to 1920, produced a record 813 tons of copper in one month in 1915.
