About Duchess
Duchess is a tiny outback town and locality in the Shire of Cloncurry, Queensland, about 80 kilometres south-south-east of Mount Isa. It lies on the railway line between Cloncurry and Mount Isa and was named by local pastoralist Alexander Kennedy after an Aboriginal woman who turned up at his homestead.
