About Groganville
Groganville is a rural locality in the Mareeba district of Queensland, in the far north of the state. It was formerly a gold-mining town, surveyed in 1889 on the Palmer River goldfields, where the Anglo Saxon Mine was one of the richest reef producers before the field declined in the 1890s. The township was abandoned by the early 20th century, and the remains of the mine and settlement are heritage-listed.
