About Georgetown (Qld)
Georgetown is a rural town and the administrative headquarters of the Shire of Etheridge in Far North Queensland. Established during the 1870s gold rush on the Etheridge River, it now serves as a service centre for the surrounding cattle grazing and gemstone fossicking country on the Gulf Developmental Road between Cairns and Normanton.
