About Red River
Red River is a rural locality in the Shire of Mareeba in Far North Queensland, within the Gulf Country and the catchment of the Mitchell River. The Red River watercourse rises in the locality and flows north-west towards the Mitchell, one of Queensland's largest rivers, which empties into the Gulf of Carpentaria. The locality is remote and almost entirely uninhabited.
