About Fossilbrook
Fossilbrook is a rural locality in the Shire of Mareeba in far north Queensland, used for grazing and crossed by the Tablelands railway line. In 1872 the explorer William Hann set out from Fossilbrook, then an outstation of Mount Surprise Station, on the expedition that discovered gold on the Palmer River.
