About Cunnamulla

Cunnamulla is a town on the Warrego River in far south-west Queensland, about 750 km west of Brisbane and the administrative centre of the Shire of Paroo. Its name comes from an Aboriginal word for a long stretch of water, describing the deep waterhole where stock routes crossed the river. The town grew in the 1860s as a Cobb and Co coaching stop and pastoral service centre, and was reached by the railway from Charleville in 1898.
