About Highvale

Highvale is a rural residential locality in the City of Moreton Bay, Queensland, located at the base of the D'Aguilar Range 30.2 kilometres northwest of the Brisbane central business district. Originally called Highlands after a property called The Highlands, a model dairy farm, the area was bought in 1919 by the Queensland Government to develop as banana farms for a soldier settlement. The name was changed to Highvale in 1924 when the Postmaster-General's Department objected to Highlands due to a naming conflict. The headwaters of the South Pine River are within the locality. Despite its name, the Samford Showground is actually located in Highvale, hosting the annual Samford Show in July. The area has an active horse riding community with local tracks and annual events.
