Winya is a rural locality in the Somerset Region, situated 2.4 kilometres east of Kilcoy on the rolling hills and creek country of the Somerset hinterland, about 95 kilometres north-north-west of Brisbane. Sandy Creek and Kilcoy Creek mark its boundaries, with Kilcoy Weir to the north and the locality's southern edge protruding into the waters of Lake Somerset.
