About Cowan Cowan
Cowan Cowan is a small island town on the western shore of Moreton Island, within the Gheebulum Kunungai National Park. Established as a pilot station in 1848 to guide vessels through Moreton Bay, it later served as a defence site during World War II. The town is accessible by ferry from Brisbane and is surrounded by mangrove flats and coastal bushland.
